My deepest sympathy in the loss of your remarkable Father who will be missed by all who knew him. 
I will forever remember his instant help in placing me as an incoming teacher in Seattle after I had taught for several years in the starting of the Head Start Program in Seattle.
Roy was always appreciative of Olaf's generous participation in the MIS activities and enjoyed his fellowship.
Olaf will be deeply missed by all.

We met with Olaf in1993 when we stayed in Seattle for the first time as part of the exchange program between University of Washington and University of Bergen. By the same occasion, and based on an excellent collaboration between Olaf and Else, an exchange program of teachers in elementary schools between Seattle and Bergen was initiated. Olafâ€™s skills and engagement was extremely important. During our follow-up stays in Seattle in 1996 and 2001 the collaboration with Olaf was strengthened. His dedication for the program was maintained, and he has been the key person in Seattle during the 20 years when the program has been active. All teachers from Bergen who have visited Seattle schools have expressed their appreciation of his knowledge, hospitality and high spirits.
During our stays in Seattle, as well as during their visits to Norway, Olaf and Mary became good friends of us, and we look back in gratefulness for the good time we had together. We will always remember them, and want to express our deep feelings to Mary and Olafâ€™s family.


We remember Olaf as a strong supporter for the relations between Bergen and Seattle, and not least the cooperaton and exchange between The University of Washington and University of Bergen. In addition he was a good personal friend. In particular, we enjoyed his friendship and hospitality when we lived in Seattle in 1997. We also appreciated very much when he came on visits to Bergen and to Voss where we live. We will always remember him and want to express our deep feelings to Mary and to his children.

I served on the Sister Cities Committee with Olaf for many years, since he was in charge of the Bergen sister city association and I am in charge of the Kobe sister city association. As a Japanese speaker, he did like to use some Japanese phrases me with me! Olaf has been an incredible leader for the sister city program and cultural activities in Seattle. His warm personality and hard work ethic will be missed! I'm so glad we were able to honor him at the sister cities reception last year!

I was sad to see that Olaf had passed away.  
When I first joined the Board of the Nordic Heritage Museum Olaf was President of the Board.  He gave me inspiration to continue on the Board during some difficult times.  I had such great respect for his contributions to the Museum and to Nordic Community.

I remember Olaf very well from Breistein Mannskors trips to Seattle and the west Coats of USA in 1983 and 1989 and also from Bergen Mannskors visit to Seattle in 2000. He was very helpful with organizing concerts, accomodation etc . He was a very friendly person, and I am sorry that he passer away on 27th Sept ( my 75th  birthday) Rest in Please !

I read in the Bergen Times that Olaf has passed away.
I remember with great pleasure the month of October 1999 when I was an exchange teacher to Seattle and stayed in Olaf's house in Shoreline. My school was located south of Seattle near Seatac, and Olaf had provided me with my own car.
That also gave me the opportunity to see alot of the Pacific Northwest at weekends.
Olaf was a busy man, always away at meetings and coming home late. But we always had breakfast together, including interesting discussions. 
He was the cornerstone of the Seattle-Bergen relationship. I hope someone can take over this important job.
