Paul passed away peacefully August 1, 2009 at the age of 94, with his friend and caregiver Gary Woods by his side. He was born in Sitka, Alaska, Kaatshi, of the Eagle Clan Kog Wan Ton. He was of the Box House. Paul graduated from Shelton Jackson in Sitka. His main subject was machine shop. He was drafted into the Army in 1941 and honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. He was a lifetime member of the Sitka American Legion. His first Alaska seiners were the "Invader" and the "Ronnie". He was Captain of the "Guardian" out of Seattle for many years. He was preceded in death by his dear wife Rosie, to whom he was married for over fifty years. They made their home in Ballard since 1960. Paul loved to dance and he danced throughout his life. He always said that he wanted "Sentimental Journey" to be played at his funeral.
