passed away on July 31, 2008. Born June 3, 1953 to Ramona and Paul Washatka in Ludington MI, she leaves behind her husband of 35 years, David; mother and father Ella; sisters Barbara Raher Rob, Kathy Washatka, and Nancy McClure Mike; nieces Mallory Arndt Mike and Lauren McClure; great nephew Grant; and her aunt Mary Lou Washatka. Paula had many treasured friends and neighbors, most especially her "bestest pal" Arleen Berg who was always there in good times and bad times; her beloved friend from the age of 5, Jean Mazur; Loralie, Debbie and Georgia thank you for sharing Ty, Jake and Britt and all the grand kids through the years and her "Velcro dog" Lucky.
Paula lived her life with integrity, dignity and grace. She loved everything about gardening especially the roses and sweet peas, even the weeding, and shared that passion with everyone by providing free consulting, sharing plants and giving advice. Perhaps the only thing she loved more was ice cream. She played a special role in many children's lives acting as that special aunt who loves you for being you. Paula was a quiet force who consistently lived her values. She was keenly interested in her friends and had a knack for choosing just the right thing to give to demonstrate her caring. Many friends consider themselves very lucky to have wind chimes Paula chose especially for them. Her special caring way will always stay in the hearts of her friends and family.
After 35 years working for the US Government, Paula retired in 2007, leaving behind many wonderful colleagues. Her retirement was cut very short by cancer and all who knew Paula mourn her loss.
