

Born on Jan. 9, 1927 in Taishan Guangdong, China, he had 2 sisters and 1 brother. Peter Ting-Wu joined the Naval Academy at age 15 and served as a decorated Captain in the Kuomintang Navy. In the 1950's, he moved to Taiwan and later met his wife of 53 years, Shirley Siu-Li Chen.
After retiring from the Navy in 1969, he continued his love for the sea as Sea Captain for the Kawasaki commercial shipping company, a role that took him to many ports of calls around the world.
In 1978, Peter Ting-Wu immigrated to the U.S. with his family and settled in Seattle, WA. He began his third career of nearly 30 years in social services with the Chinese Information and Services Center (CISC) helping immigrants and their families successfully settle into their new lives in the U.S. Peter proudly served his family, community and country with honor, compassion and unwavering commitment.
Peter is survived by his wife Shirley Siu Li, his son Hank, his daughter Judy, son-in-law Craig and granddaughter Brooklyn and many loving sisters and brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family. Peter Ting-Wu was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone.
Funeral services for Peter Ting-Wu will be held for the immediate family at Evergreen Washelli in Seattle on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00pm. Live-stream of the services will be available for those who can attend remotely. Peter Ting-Wu Chen will be laid to rest at the Evergreen Washelli Cemetery in Seattle, WA.
