
Phil was a Provincetown MA native, born December 1, 1958, the first child and only son of LeRoy and Virginia Grace Atkins. He was a 1976 graduate of Provincetown High School. In February 1977, he enlisted in the USAF, where he served 8 years active duty and 9 years in the Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard. For the last 24 years he was a resident of Washington State, but he always considered the lower Cape his home. He traveled east to Massachusetts as often as he could, never quite getting the sand out of his shoes. He was employed at The Boeing Company in Everett, WA as a machinist for 16 years.
Phil is survived by his parents, LeRoy and Virginia Grace Atkins of Orleans, MA; two sisters, Leslie (Atkins) Unruh , of Auburn, WA and Barbara (Atkins) Grandel, of Truro, MA, and his only nephew Anthony Grandel of Truro, MA; as well as many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Phil also leaves his fiancée, Ms. Nancy Hughes, and her two daughters, Robbin and Crystal, all of Everett, WA. And finally, Phil leaves behind his two beloved cats, Bruiser and Little One.
Phil was a member of Universal Lodge, King Hiram's Lodge, and Nauset Light Lodge, AF & AM.
