

Raul “Rollie” Villanueva Batayola was a devoted husband, father, beloved grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and cherished friend. Rollie touched countless lives with his kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved.
Born on August 24, 1944, in Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines, Rollie spent his early years surrounded by his family. In the 1960s, he immigrated to the United States with his parents and siblings, where they settled in Seattle, Washington, beginning a new chapter marked by resilience, hard work, and a deep commitment to building a better life provided by his parents, Felipe and Conchita.
In March 1966, Rollie enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class in February 1968, carrying with him the discipline, integrity, and sense of duty that would guide him throughout his life.
After his military service, Rollie pursued higher education enrolling at Seattle University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. His dedication to learning and problem‑solving led him to a long and distinguished career as an engineer for the United States Navy Base in Keyport, Washington, where he served faithfully for 33 years. His work reflected his meticulous mind, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence. Upon retirement in 2006 Rollie moved with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada and then settled in Pahrump, Nevada.
Rollie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Knopp Batayola; his father, Felipe Lumapas Batayola; his mother, Conchita Villanueva Batayola; and his siblings, Romeo, Donaldo, Ernesta, and Evaristo. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Rollie is survived by his loving wife, Ronda Lou Batayola, his three children—Rebecca Batayola Morris (John), Paulette Batayola Joyce (Travis), and Matthew Knopp Batayola (Brittany). Rollie was a proud and loving grandfather (Lolo) to Errelyn Batayola Hill, Ervin Clinton Hill, II, Abel Batayola Joyce, Remy Thomas Batayola, and Elise Ernesta Batayola Joyce. He will also be remembered by his siblings, Renato (Pamela), Felipe (Nancy), Arthur (Dasha), Reuel (Sheree), Betty, Benjamin (Lynn), and his nieces and nephews.
Though his absence leaves an ache that cannot be measured, Rollie’s legacy lives on in the family he nurtured, the friendships and relationships he built, the service he gave to his country, the extraordinary career and accolades he accomplished, and the generous heart he shared so freely. His memory will be held with gratitude, honor, and endless love.
Raul Villanueva Batayola passed away at the age of 81 at 4:37am on December 15, 2025. He will be missed beyond words and remembered always by all who knew him.
Funeral mass will be on January 24, 2026 at 11am at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Internment of his Urn will immediately follow at Evergreen Washelli, and then reception after at St. Benedict School Cafeteria.
