Rex Lloyd Smith, 93, of Edmonds, WA, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016. He was born September 12, 1922 in Devils Slide, Utah, the son of the late Arza Lavell and Grace Hannah (Ball) Smith. He married Gayle Smith on November 20, 1953 at the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They welcomed two boys who were the joys of their lives. Gayle passed away on May 20, 1986. He married again to Peggy Sue Tanguy and she also preceded him in death. Rex was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He was a longtime member of the Mountlake Terrace and Edmonds Wards of the LDS Church. Rex was an electrician by trade and was a member of I.B.E.W. He loved spending time with his family, was a scoutmaster for many years and enjoyed hiking, biking, running, as well as foxtrot and swing dancing. Everyone who knew Rex knew his teasing sense of humor, and the twinkle in his eye. Rex is survived by his two sons, Randy Smith and wife, Nanette, and Lyle Smith and wife Bonnie; twelve grandchildren, Jesse, Casey, Lena, Leslie, Jamie, Elisa, Theodore, Melody, Cari, Alayne, Kelly and Corey; 37 grandchildren with more on the way, several step children and grandchildren, and a special niece, Theresa. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Keith, Gene and Robert.
