Robert W. Howisey passed away on September 21, 2010 two weeks before his 91st birthday after a short illness. He joins his beloved wife Marion who passed away 16 years ago. He was born in Wyoming to Rose & William Howisey, the fourth of seven children. The family moved to Seattle when he was 5 years old. He was educated in Seattle Public Schools, graduated from Ballard H.S. in 1938 followed by a business degree at the U of W. As a member of the "Greatest Generation" he was educated as an officer in the Navy at Columbia University and Harvard Graduate School of Business followed by active duty on the destroyer escort USS Vammen. He saw combat in the Okinawa campaign in the Pacific. In 1945 he married Marion M. McKay and had three children, Robert L. Howisey, MD, (DeAnne), Diana L. Oertli and Stephen W. Howisey (Melinda). He had five grandchildren, Terry, Robyn, Katie, Erin and Ashley and two great grandchildren Henry and Gwyn. He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Williams and Dorothy Roberge (Jim). He is the beloved uncle to a very large extended family. He worked his way through college working at Howisey Bros Furniture, the family business.
His main business career was at Pemco Financial Center. He was one of the first employees and remained dedicated for 50 years. He was a founder and leader serving as executive director and board member of Pemco Financial Center and its' subsidiaries.
Dad spent his leisure time boating, wintering in AZ after retirement and spending time with his extended family at Beaver Lake. After Marion's death he shared his later years with his loving companion Lorraine Pedersen for 15 years. Lorraine preceded him in death by 6 months.
He enjoyed memberships in the Seattle Yacht Club, Columbia Tower, Rainier Club and the Elks Club.
