At age 73, after a long courageous battle with kidney failure, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Robert G. McGowan ''Mac'' passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 17, 2001. Born September 5, 1927 in Seattle, Washington the second son of Martin B. and Marion Buckley McGowan, Bob attended Blessed Sacrament Parochial School, Seattle Prep Academy and Seattle University. He served in the Armed Forces Army in Japan from 1946-1948. In November of 1950, he married Juanita Lee Bonnie Nulton at St. Alphonsus Church and a family of five children soon followed. Our precious Bonnie preceded him in death in April 1968 following childbirth. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Mari Anne of Seattle, brother Martin B. McGowan II of Palm Dessert, CA; children Laurean Robert Myers of Seattle, Colleen Harold Cooley of Snohomish, Robert Gleason McGowan, Jr. of Snohomish, Kathleen A. McGowan of Marysville, Michael Marianne McGowan of Missoula, Montana, Judie Tom Smith of Seattle and James Slayton of Seattle. As well as 11 grandchildren; Jason R. Myers, Ian, Tully and Tobin McGowan, Morgan Marie Cooley, Calen M. McGowan, Daniel and Burke McGowan, Rodney Biddle and Michael and Christina Slayton. Bob was well respected in the Pacific Northwest Paint Industry including Boysen Paints, Minor's Paint Store in the University District and Cowman Campbell Paints in Ballard. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Parish for 50 years and most recently served in the St. Vincent De Paul Society. He also belonged to Elks Lodge 1800-Lake City Elks and CBAC Hunting Club.
