Affectionately known as ?Capt. Bob? in Seattle, he was born in Baker City, OR to Walter and Miriam Scott, Bob attended Klamath Union High School, and then graduated from the University of Oregon in business and communications. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, and ROTC.
In 1952, he married Carmel Finnigan of Klamath Falls, and after serving as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and a brief career in radio broadcasting, he joined Sylvania in their lighting products division. He retired 36 years later as their NW Division Manager. He then married Kirsten James of Seattle in 1999. Retirement didn?t suit Bob well, so he put his extensive experience to work for Consolidated Electrical Distributors as the administrator for contracts held by them with the State of Washington until his untimely death.
He was most notably an avid boater, but also very well read, a great skier, sportsman, tennis player and always lived life to its fullest. During ?retirement?, he became a U.S Coast Guard Licensed Captain with a 100 ton rating. He ran charters, often with Kirsten at his side, throughout the San Juans and Canadian Gulf Islands for 15 years aboard his beloved boat, the ?Vagabond?. He also worked for local companies as a charter and dinner cruise captain. Mostly, he, Kirsten, and the entire family, loved being out at anchor, enjoying wonderful times together, and the very heart of life itself.
Bob is survived by his first wife, Carmel, and their children Robert and his wife Angela, Bonny, Daniel and his wife Shawna, and James and his wife Lori. He is also survived by his wife, Kirsten, and stepson Alex James. His grandchildren, Ryan, Missy, Robert, Andrew, Joey, Koa, and great- granddaughter Mayabella, will miss him.
A memorial service will be held at Evergreen-Washelli in Seattle on January 20, 2007 at 2pm. Please visit and sign the guestbook at www.washelli.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Puget Sound Chapter of the American Lung Association.
