His family resided in Wahpeton, ND later moving to Williston, ND. Robert served four years in the Navy and then returned to Wahpeton to attend the State School of Science, studying Lithography.
He married his high school sweetheart, Carmen Jaeger in 1959 and began their married life moving to Seattle, WA. They celebrated 62 years together this past November.
Robert worked as a Lithographer for 33 years before becoming an owner in an Auto Sales business in Bothell, WA.
After living in Bothell for 53 years, Robert retired to his dream home on Mason Lake where he enjoyed boat rides, Fourth of July celebrations, and smores by the fire pit. He worked hard and was often caught “watching the fire” from his recliner after a long day. He loved to put people at ease with his stories and always had a twinkle in his eye for mischief.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and James Steiner. Robert is survived by his wife, Carmen; their children Michael (Susan) Steiner, Lynn (Dean) Knox and Lisa (Scott) Engel and grandchildren, Chris Steiner, Paige Steiner, Nathan (Rachel) Knox and Andrew Knox. He has one surviving great grandchild, Elise Knox.
Pa, will be remembered by his grandchildren as an ice cream loving man who always had a story to tell and a smile on his face. He will live on in our hearts and we will forever feel his presence at the lake.
A funeral mass will be celebrated for Robert on Saturday, July 24th at 1pm St. Edwards Catholic Church, 601 W C St, Shelton. All are welcome to attend. Masks will be required.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to charities that were special to Robert:
