Despite being born deaf, Rose’s love for music was nothing short of extraordinary. She had an incredible gift of feeling the rhythm with her entire being—moving and dancing to the beat that her soul embraced. Music brought her pure joy, igniting laughter that bubbled from deep within her. Rose was a true spirit—embracing every activity with such enthusiasm, always game, always patient, always ready to share in the joy. Though she couldn’t speak words to share her thoughts and feelings, Rose expressed herself through the most powerful language of all—her radiant facial expressions and expressive hand gestures. Her secret whispers in your ear, her knowing gaze, her intuition—she seemed to understand your heart before you even said a word.
In a pile of shoes, Rose always knew where to find your missing sneaker. When you fell and scraped your knee, Rose was the first to pull you up and check how bad it was. Rose was always at the door waiting to greet you with a hug as soon as you arrived. and if you were on the phone, Rose never missed the chance to say hi.
Rose unabashedly showed her love and care for others in her everyday actions.
Rose was nothing short of inspiring. How could someone with such limited ability to communicate show love, kindness, and happiness so profoundly?
She loved going to the park with her nephews, PJ and Caden. Eagerly joining in games on the playground or chasing in a game of tag. She also cherished the neighborhood walks, venturing to the wetlands by Meadowbrook. When her health started to decline and her strength waned, we saw that longing in her eyes—the same longing to join in the fun to be part of it. We knew in that quiet, knowing look, she was beginning to understand the gravity of her condition, the weight of the fight she faced.
Rose was more than just a girl with limited words—she was a beacon of love, resilience, and unspoken joy. Her spirit will forever live in our hearts, a beautiful reminder of the power of silent love and the strength of the human soul.
We are grateful to have been loved by Rose even when we couldn’t recognize it. Rose, we will forever hold your hand, carrying your light within us, remembering always that your love was louder than words, stronger than silence. You left an imprint in our hearts and many people whose life you touched.
