Russell Russ Frank Patterson, 57, of Bothell, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 21, 2014 at his home in Bothell. He was recovering from surgery performed in his fight with lung cancer which he battled with dignity, humor and a positive attitude. Russ was born March 11, 1957 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was the son of the late John C. and Ada T. (Bradley) Patterson; a brother, Jerry, preceded him in death. Russ lived in Vancouver, BC and Montreal before his father was transferred to Bellevue in 1976. Russ came from a family of avid golfers and he had a natural gift that he was encouraged to pursue. In the late 70's he attended Seattle U on a golf scholarship until the program was cancelled. Russ put golf on hold to start a family in the 80's and had a daughter, Heather, during his first marriage. He decided to get back into amateur golf in the 1990's and participated in many local tournaments as a member of the PNWGA. Russ was employed at Willows Run Golf Club in Redmond, WA for the past 10 years and they gave him the flexibility to participate in local tournaments. Although golf was a major part of his life; he always had time for his family, which now included his wife Karen, who he married on May 31, 2008 and their three cats, Winston, Umbriana and Riley. He was an excellent cook, whipping up fabulous meals without recipes. He loved to entertain and have people over to their home which they had built in late 2011. He also loved Gummie Bunnies, Karen's white chocolate chip brownies, the Seahawks, the Mariners and his extended family and friends. His quick wit and sense of humor brought joy and laughter to the lives of his family and friends, who nicknamed him 'Gustav.' He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Heather; brother, Craig; grandson, Jason Anthony Bunn; stepmother, Helen Kraus-Patterson, and many family and friends.
