Ruthe was born to Charles Lindsay and Bessie Halterman in Iowa on October 23, 1922. She was the 4th of 5 children and the only daughter. Her father was so thrilled the day she was born that he went out and bought a brand new Ford car and truck! After just 3 meetings, Ruthe married Dan Nice on February 22, 1942. Together they moved to Seattle that same year to start their family. They bought a small house in Lake Forest Park and over the next 17 years, while Dan was working in the US Navy, Ruthe bore 6 children, 4 sons and 2 daughters. Over the years, Ruthe worked as a cook; initially to help support her family and in later years to keep herself busy. She was comfortable cooking for 2 or 20 and was often called upon by her family or church to assist with meals. Ruthe was an extremely faithful person, who tried to find the good in any situation. Her family will remember her for her love and support over the years. She had unwavering faith in the Lord?s power to watch over her and those she loved to keep them safe. Ruthe was a wealth of wisdom. Anyone who knew her, could trust in her having the answer to almost any question. She had an insatiable appetite for books and was well informed on current events. She relished a healthy debate and cherished keeping up what her friends and family were doing. Ruthe is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dan; their 6 children, spouses and grandchildren, as well as her 1 brother, John C. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 1 grandson. We were so blessed to have her in our lives, and are richer for having known her. We would like to share our memories of her, as well as hear yours. A memorial service will be held on Ruthe?s 80th birthday at The Free Methodist Church 510 NE 175th St. Shoreline WA on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 at 10:30AM.
