

Shirley MacNair, 91, of Richmond Beach WA passed away August 31st, in Seattle Washington. Shirley was born September 20, 1932 in Seattle to parents Julia and Rudolph King. Shirley was adopted at age 10 by Odessa and Bud Utman of Richmond Beach, after her mother passed away unexpectedly and her father was not able to care for her and her brother Roy.
Shirley grew up in Richmond Beach, graduated from Lincoln high school in 1950 and then worked at Metropolitan Life living w/her roommate on Queen Anne hill. After meeting Ivan in 1952, they were married later in the year and began their family in 1953. Tom and Linda were Shirley’s greatest accomplishments and she raised them w/love and care.
Shirley loved her family vacations, driving to St Louis and Florida to visit family in the 1950s and 60s, as well as, to Las Vegas and Reno most of her life. Shirley would become a Grandma in 1983, helping to care for Matthew while his parents worked. She had a special bond w/her grandson who she loved. In 2013 she became a Great Grandma, she loved Hazel very much, looked forward to her visits and always adored her curly red hair.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Ivan “Mac” of 48 years in 2000, and brother Roy King in 2022. She is survived by her son Tom (Chandra), daughter Linda, grandson Matthew and great granddaughter Hazel.
Shirley was loved by her family and leaves a big hole by those who were close to her. Her spirit, ideas and love for her family will live on through Tom, Linda, Chandra, Matthew and Hazel. We all love you Great!
