Shirley Marie Olson

Shirley was born on July 22, 1937, in Ballard, Washington to Carl and Helen Swanson and was an only child. Shirley attended Ballard High School and graduated in 1955: and later went to work downtown for a produce broker where she met a producer driver, Robert Olson. They fell in love and married and settled in Shoreline Washington. They loved each other dearly, setting an example to others of a beautiful, committed marriage, celebrating 62 years of marriage in 2022.

Shirley loved to do anything Bob loved doing. In their younger years, they were part of a bowling league, and later moved onto golf and going for walks. Shirley was an avid gardener and loved to be out in her yard. She also was a huge animal lover, she would feed the birds, squirrels and the neighbor’s cat, and loved her own pets too. We would joke that if we were to be reincarnated that we would want to come back as one of mom’s pets.

Shirley is survived by her children Ricky (Cindy) Olson of Lynnwood, Washington and Donna (Guy) Johnson of Driggs, Idaho; as well as 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert.

Services will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at First Lutheran Church of Richmond Beach, located at 18354 8th Ave NW, Shoreline. The internment will be held at Abbey View Memorial Park.
