July 4, 1942-July 6, 2025
Steven Leonard Cranfill was born and raised in Seattle, attending Lincoln High School and the University of Washington. He met Linda Barmuta at a birthday party when they were both 16 years old. They married in 1964 and settled in Shoreline.
Steve started his career at Seafirst Bank and Rainier Bank before getting his MBA at Seattle University. He then became a partner at Management Advisory Services where he specialized in teaching banks to lend to small businesses around the US and in developing countries.
His training experience was instrumental in his next role as CEO for Developmental Research and Programs, whose mission was to train community leaders on how to help at-risk youth.
Steve traveled frequently for business and enjoyed having Linda accompany him on trips to Hong Kong, Jordan, and Europe. He also loved sharing his frequent flyer miles and hotel rewards with friends and family.
He enjoyed hosting gatherings, especially Thanksgiving when he would sneak samples to the family dogs while carving the turkey. He also enjoyed traveling with Linda and their friends on motorhome trips, perfecting grilling techniques, and watching cooking shows. In his later years he enjoyed watching travel shows, especially those that highlighted places he had been.
Steve is survived by his daughters Wendy Cranfill and Lisa Miniken (Justin) and the many friends he considered family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Linda Barmuta Cranfill, his parents Bert and Mathel Cranfill, and his sister Linda Jane Cranfill.
Memorial celebration is pending.
