We remember Thuan Hoang, whose spirit departed from us on September 22, 2025 at the age of 66, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born in Quang Tri, Vietnam, Thuan fled from his war-torn country by boat at the age of 25, seeking refuge in Galang, Indonesia, where he stayed in a refugee camp. His immigration journey to the U.S. took him to Pennsylvania in 1984. He soon moved to Seattle, Washington where he made his home. Thuan met his life partner, Doan in Seattle in 1987. Thuan dedicated his life to being a family man and the best father he could be to his 3 children, Thephong, Tuchi, and "Meo" Nguyen.
Thuan was a devoted and hard-working man who wore many hats throughout his life—processing seafood in Alaska, crafting fishing nets in Bremerton, landscaping in Seattle, and operating a restaurant in Woodinville. Later in life, he retired to become a full-time caregiver for his eldest son with disability—a role he embraced with grace, strength, and deep love.
Outside of work and family, Thuan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, camping, and discovering new cuisines. His free spirit, quiet wisdom, and boundless generosity touched everyone who knew him.
Thuan leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. He is survived by his life partner, his three children, and nine siblings. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Please join us in celebrating the life of Thuan Hoang at a funeral service on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home & Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133.
