Tony was born on October 23rd, 1952, in Saigon, Vietnam. A refugee of the Vietnam War, he immigrated to America with his young family in April of 1975 at the age of 22. As a part of Operation New Life, they first arrived in the refugee camp in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. With his wife Mimi, brothers-in-law, and their two young children, Alan and Christine, they made their way to California and resided in Canoga Park. While learning English and American customs, he took on a variety of jobs to support himself and his family, which included work as a grocery store clerk, a sales representative at Ortho Mattress store, and later as a real estate agent.
While Tony and Mimi resettled in California, they became the homebase to bring the rest of their extensive family from war-torn Vietnam. Throughout his life, he and his wife supported the immigration of other Vietnamese refugees and extended family to the United States. His contributions to their community and family were immeasurable.
Eventually, through his extraordinary work ethic, he and his family moved to Seattle, Washington in 1986, where he began a successful career with Boeing, working primarily on Boeing 747 fuselage interiors before retiring in 2014. Following his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed international travel, and ultimately returned to their new home in Southern California in 2017. Tony returned annually to Washington to visit his children and grandchildren. Often found with the family’s dogs closely alongside him, Tony was known to be generous, insightful, and unwavering in his ideals.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, Tony will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know him. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Mimi, four children, Alan, Christine, Jean-Paul, and Laurence, and three grandchildren, Madelen, Xander, and Beckham.
"In silence, you spoke volumes. In jest, you brought sincerity. In absence, you are deeply present."
