Virginia E. Douge passed away, April 14, 2024, in Lynnwood, Snohomish, WA. She was born May 7, 1931 in Mills, Harding, NM, but has been a resident of Washington State since early childhood.
She moved with her parents and 3 brothers, Walton, Bill, and Claude, to Washington state where they eventually settled on a small farm in Rochester.
In 1949, after graduation, she moved to Seattle where she worked at the phone company. Virginia and her friend Pat went on a double date with two brothers, Steve and Tom. Pat married Steve and Virginia married Tom on March 2, 1951 in a double wedding ceremony. Virginia and Tom were married for 49 years before he passed in 2000.
They raised 9 children, Thomas, Randall, Sandra, Richard, Christine, Deana, Lynnea, Cynthia, and Martin in a house on Phinney Ridge where she stayed for 52 years until she moved to a small house her son built in Everett where she lived for the last 13 years.
Virginia was preceded in death by Thomas B. Douge of 49 years. She is survived by son Thomas B. Douge, daughter Sandra J. Ruff (David), son Richard W. Douge (Verla), daughters Christine E. Pilz (Larry), Deana K. Galich, Lynnea I. DeRousse (Justin), son Martin E. Douge (Lisa), 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by son Randall A. Douge (Loralee), daughter Cynthia L. Sofie and David A. Sofie, grandson Anthony T. McCarl and granddaughter Genesee M. Douge.
Virginia enjoyed reading and gardening. She took joy in traveling and watching Seattle sport teams play, especially the Mariners because she lettered in softball in High School.
Most of all she really loved her family. Her children were the most important thing to her and she took delight in her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She lives behind a legacy that spans generations and will continue on for many more.
She retired from Seattle Public School District where she worked as a Supervisor of the lunchroom for over 20 years.
Graveside service will be held at Abbey View 3601 Alaska Rd. Brier, WA 98036 on April 20, 2024, at 1pm.
