

Wednesday, December 1, 2021. William was born in 1930 in Seattle to parents Ernest
and Mary Auerswald. He attended Roosevelt High School and the University of
Washington.
He started his career at, and became owner of, Auerswald’s Business University at 5th
and Pine in downtown Seattle. His graduates worked for a variety of firms in Seattle, in
clerical, accounting and business law positions, and Bill became a well-liked member of
the Seattle business community.
Bill met his wife Cora at his bank, a block from his work, and they were married in 1964.
Bill later became Port Manager at the Port of Edmonds, where he worked until his
retirement. Projects he was involved with include the Harbor Square Development.
Bill and Cora were active in boating, fishing and crabbing in the San Juans, and enjoyed
being members of the Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club.
Bill was known for his sharp wit and many funny quips. He had numerous friends,
including his beloved orange cat Sparkey. He will be greatly missed by his wife Cora
and by family and friends.
