

William J. Lund (Bill), 86, was born and raised in Seattle, WA and remained there until his passing on 2-21-2018. He was born on 2-7-1932 to Joseph Lund and Marguerite Butterworth Lund and was the great grandson of Edgar R. Butterworth, a Seattle business man. Bill was a descendant of the original Massachusetts Bay Colony settlers in the early 1600's. He graduated from West Seattle HS in 1950, and attended the UW, NSCC & CC of the Air Force. Bill served 29 1/2 yrs in the USAF. He was active duty in Korea for the Korean War and the Pueblo Crisis. Bill was a TSGT in the reserves and National Guard. In the Mid 50's he joined the Seattle Tip Toppers where he met and married Eileen Ness Lund in 1958. They were married over 55 years before she preceded him in death in 2013. Bill's employment included Sears, Lunde Electric and he was a proud member of the IBEW and local 117. After retirement he worked as an usher at Key Arena. Bill was a long-time member at Calvary Lutheran Church until its closing & then joined Our Redeemers Lutheran Church. He was a leader of Cub Scout troop 102 & Boy Scout troop 114. Bill loved camping, boating, traveling and gardening. He was an avid reader, subscriber to the Seattle Symphony Pops & the 5th Ave Theater. Bill also enjoyed Husky football and Seattle Storm games. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage.
William is survived by his 4 children, their spouses and 4 granddaughters: Laurie Lund-Gonzalez (Ernie, Marisa & Amanda Gonzalez), Peter Lund (Jennifer Norman-Lund & Alexandria Lund), Kenneth Lund (Silvia Rigote), Jennifer Lund (Kenneth Higgins & Kiara Higgins, and another baby girl on the way). He is also survived by his sister Betty Harris, and brothers Robert & Gilbert Lund.
A celebration of life will be held on March 10th at 12:00pm at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church 2400 NW 85th St., Seattle, Wa 98117. In memory of William, donations can be made to the Ballard Food Bank or Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church.
