"I William James McDonagh, Jr., have been blesssed by the Creator of all things with the kowledge that I am His. Him alone do I worship in Spirit and in Truth."
Written in his Bible, August 23, 1982.
In loving memory of our beloved father and brother William J. McDonagh, Jr. Bill was a gentle loving human being who dearly loved the Lord and his eleven children.
Bill was born in Seattle and lived out his entire life in the Puget Sound area. He purchased a large farm in Arlington in 1960 so that his family could grow to appreciate the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, or ?God?s Country? as he put it. He relocated his family to Queen Anne Hill in 1975, where he lived out the remainder of his days.
Bill graduated from Stadium High School in 1949 and attended the University of Washington as a member of Pi Kappa Alpha. He was a Boeing Engineer and was fascinated with space, science fiction and aviation.
Bill is most remembered for his active involvement in the lives of his children. More than anything, he loved spending time with them. He especially enjoyed ?Bowling Night?, where he propelled his kids to league championships. He was a staple at every family gathering and was always available day or night to give us guidance and unconditional love.
Bill was preceded in death by his father William Sr.; mother Ivy Diem McDonagh and sister Shirley Carlson. Bill is survived by his sister Pat Weber, whom he loved dearly, his step-mother, Laura McDonagh and step-sister, Joyce Billingsley.
Bill is survived by his children are Gene McDonagh, Jan Young, Buzz McDonagh, Pamela Kane, Shawn Boice, Timothy Ross, Tammy Janes, Patrick McDonagh, Patricia Brown, Melodee Westfall and Wendy Demastus. He had 19 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. His favorite saying was ?I thank God for you kids.? Well Dad, we thank God for you and your blessing on our lives. We?ll see you again.
A memorial service will be Friday, August 11, 2006 10:00 am at Evergreen-Washelli Chapel in Seattle.
Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed by Thy name. Thy Kindom come, Thy will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
Amen
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was; and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
