

Annie Johanna Boecker, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Forum at Lincoln Heights in San Antonio, Texas. She was 101 years old.
Annie was born to Frank J. and Ella Henze Ruppel in Zorn, Texas, September 2, 1912. She graduated from Navarro High School in 1929 where she played for the all-girls high school basketball team. After secretarial school and a brief foray into the business world, she married John P. Boecker on February 11, 1939, in Seguin, raised their family and ran a household with him until his passing on May 11, 1989. Annie was very active from the 1930’s belonging to the Woman’s Auxiliary at the H.U. Wood American Legion Post 245, as well as holding memberships with the Seguin Garden Club and various bridge clubs. She was a devoted member of Emanuel’s Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Circle. She loved to play dominos, bridge, Scrabble, Minnesota Canasta and Kings on the Corner, having played spirited games recently with her granddaughters. Annie was a huge Spurs fan, a wonderful cook, a good neighbor and well known for her pies and cookies.
Annie is survived by daughter Charlotte and her husband, Blair Warren, of San Antonio, Texas, her son John Boecker and his wife, Judy, also of San Antonio as well as her loving granddaughters Jennifer and Jillian Boecker. She will also be missed by seven step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call upon Annie’s family on Sunday, June 29, 2014, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Goetz Funeral Home in the Family Room, 713 North Austin Street, Seguin, Texas. Funeral Services will take place on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Emanuel’s Lutheran Church, 206 North Travis Street, Seguin, Texas, (830) 379-5046 followed by interment next to her husband at Lone Oak Cemetery located at Barbarosa and Friedens Church Road in Geronimo, Texas.
Memorial donations may be made to Emanuel’s Lutheran Church or to the H.U. Wood American Legion Post 245 in Seguin.
Serving as pall bearers are Thomas E. Boecker, Robert Boecker, James A. Boecker, John Bormann, John A. Grein, and Mark Grein. Serving as Honorary pall bearers, are Annie’s special friends, Paul Stollewerk and wife Norma.
