Avis Joan Langford Lombard

Friends and family are invited to Goetz Funeral Home 713 N. Austin Street on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from 5 to 8 pm for a time of visitation. Graveside services will be held at Fort Sam Houston, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. San Antonio, Texas on Thursday, May 4, 2015 at 10:30 AM where she will be laid to rest with her loving husband Kenneth. Services will be officiated by Pastor Brice Mandaville Senior pastor at the First Baptist Church of Seguin.

God quietly lifted Avis Joan Langford Lombard of Seguin Texas to her heavenly home on Saturday May 30, 2015 at the age of 100 with her family by her side. She began her journey in this life on October 24, 1914 when she was born to Addie Franklin Langford and Annie Bertha Crowley Langford in Breckenridge, Texas. She grew up on the family farm surrounded by 4 sisters and 1 brother. Unlike many woman of that time, she graduated from Weslaco High School and then from Pan American University with a business degree.

On October 21, 1939 she married Kenneth Gordon Lombard in Weslaco, Texas. God blessed them with three wonderful boys and an amazing but not always easy life.

During her time with us she enjoyed painting, gardening, raising chickens and even a little bee keeping. She was always the ear to listen, the shoulder to cry on and the ever accepting unconditional support that her family needed.

Avis was preceded in death by her devoted husband Kenneth Lombard on July 8, 1979, her son Roy B. Lombard, Grandson Jason S. Lombard, her parents Addie and Annie Langford, siblings Bertha Fern Langford Frank, Annie Myrl Langford, Thelma Addie Langford Hays, James Bernard Langford and Zelda Irene Langford House. She is survived by her sons Gordon A. Lombard and his wife Joyce and Tommy C Lombard and his wife Donna; grandchildren Kenny Wayne Lombard, Roy B. Lombard Jr., Wendy J. Grant and her husband Jason and Sandra D. Lombard as well as eleven great grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proud and quietly strong in her Christian faith and her family. The world would be a better place if only we were all a little more like her.
