

Esequiel F. “Zeke” Valdez of Seguin, Texas was born on October 26, 1945 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 13, 2010 at the age of 64. Zeke worked with and retired from SMI after 42 years. During his working life, Zeke was the most proud of his perfect driving record. The recognition he received was for driving over Four Million Miles without a single incident or violation. Zeke enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all enjoyed the time spent with his family. Zeke also had a very special place in his heart for his grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Zeke was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Juanita Valdez, and by one brother, Cruz Valdez in 1968. He is survived by his loving wife of over 46 year, Gloria Benavidez Valdez; children, Regina Montoya of San Antonio, Greg and wife Kim Valdez of Houston, Gabriel and wife Elizabeth Valdez of Corpus Chirsti, and Gilbert and wife Anabel Valdez of Sabinal; grandchildren, Crystal, Joshua, Clarissa, Nathan, Jonathan, Steven and Diego. A visitation will be held in the Goetz Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 11AM to 9PM. The Holy Rosary will be recited on Tuesday evening in the Goetz Chapel beginning at 7:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 9:30AM with interment to follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers for Zeke will be: Greg Valdez, Gabriel Valdez, Gilbert Valdez, Joshua Montoya, Steven Sanchez, Ronnie Contreras, Cecil Valdez and Tony Valdez. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Nathan, Jonathan and Diego Valdez.
