Lorine Hulda Meckel Jubela

She was born October 22, 1923 in New Braunfels. She is survived by son Robert, wife Mira of Boerne, daughter Carol and husband Charlie Seidel, son Roger, wife April, and daughter Chris and husband Jimmy Chessher all of McQueeney. Grandchildren Tina Lucas, Jeff (Rhonda) Jubela, Tammy (Darrell) Harborth, Chad (Robin) Jubela, Trisha (Jason) Gusoskey, Robin (Jeremy) Kernodle, Jimbo (Cortnie) Chessher, Kyle (Lisa) Jubela, Lora Beth (Javier) Escalante; 20 great grandchildren and sister-in-law LaNell Meckel. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert “Bob” Jubela, her parents Walter Meckel & Viola Mueller, and brother Roger Meckel.

Lorine attended McQueeney School where she was a standout athlete playing volleyball, basketball (1/2 court), and softball. She graduated from Seguin High School in 1941. She met the love of her life, Bob Jubela, while in grade school when he came to pick her up on horseback on their first date. They married in 1944 and were blessed with four beautiful children. She retired from McQueeney School after 21 years of service working in the cafeteria when everything was made from scratch. She loved to cook and bake. After retirement, she worked alongside Bob farming and ranching. She was a kind, sweet, gentle soul and a hard worker. Her love of gardening was evident every spring with the abundant, beautiful, colorful flowers throughout her yard. She loved to garden and can. The joys of her love life were her nine grandchildren that named her Oma. Oma was her name from then on. She was blessed with 20 great-grandchildren that always brought a smile to her sweet face. Oma lived a long, beautiful life. She will be missed by all.

Lorine’s family will receive guests at a visitation from 4-8 on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Goetz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11 a.m., with burial following at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, 2951 South State Hwy. 46, New Braunfels, TX.
