CALKINS, Barbara D. 86, of Kenneth City, FL passed away peacefully on December 14, 2018. Barbara was originally from Vernon, CT however for 50 years she was a resident of Kenneth City where she enjoyed the warm sun and working outside in the yard.
Barbara always loved spending time with her family over a good cup of coffee and sharing laughs and stories. For more than 20 years she ran a home daycare where she became “Nana” to many children. She also enjoyed sewing and was known to sew dresses for weddings as well as her granddaughter’s high school choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Robert and her son, Scott. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne Deal, Phyllis (Barry) Keller and Sandra (Clay) Cunningham; daughter–in-law, Sandra Calkins; grandchildren, Stephanie (Benjamin) Friedman; Christopher Calkins, Joel Cunningham, Katie Cunningham and great grandchild, Taylor Friedman.
She will be greatly missed. A Graveside Service will be held at Bay Pines National Cemetery, St. Petersburg, FL on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760.
