

Daniel P. Sovie Sr., 66 of Seminole, FL. went home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2014. Born in Watertown, NY on Christmas day 1947, he was the youngest son of the late Joseph J. Sovie and M. Eva Merkley Sovie. Dan was raised in Watertown in a loving home until graduated high school from Immaculate Heart Academy. He then went on to attend Hudson Valley College. He moved to Lakeland, Florida where he owned and operated the first Jreck Subs outside of New York state. Later in life he became a barber in St. Petersburg Florida; a career in which he loved as it allowed him to meet countless friends. He was a huge fan of The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and The Tampa Bay Rays, whether they won or not! He had a love of travel and adventure that he shared with the love of his life, his wife Barbara-Geary Sovie. Their favorite destination was Waterford, Ireland. They also enjoyed the architecture in which they found in historical Catholic Churches. They were communicants of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Seminole, Florida.
He was survived by his loving wife, Barbara, and his children, Tricia (George) Switzer of Troy, NY, Daniel P. Sovie Jr. of Green Island, NY, Lourena (Kiho) Ingram of Tampa, FL, Eileen (Doug) Duncan of Seminole, FL, Ron (Jesse) Geary of Las Vegas, NV. and Rob (Marci) Geary of New Port Richey, FL. He is also survived by several grandchildren & great grandchildren, Joseph Harmon, Jordan Harmon, Jaylynn Harmon, Daniel Sovie III, Aubreyanna Harmon, Joshua Sovie, Kayleigh Sovie, Jacob Sovie, Allison Sovie, Alexis Sovie, Kyleigh Sovie, Alicia Sovie, Cayden Sovie, Lola Sovie, Corinna Geary, Anthony Geary, Emily Geary, Madison Geary, Danielle Meyer, Kyle Duncan, Lauren Duncan, David Remington, Andrew Meckling, and several nieces and nephews. Dan was also predeceased by 2 brothers, R. Joseph Sovie of Brunswick, OH and David A. Sovie of Watertown, NY. and step-son Dave Geary.
Dan will be remembered for his great sense of humor, and his kind nature which led him to touch countless lives over the years. He will be deeply missed by family and his best friend, Buddy, his dog and partner in crime.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday October 31, 2014 at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home.
