

Also known as “Slater” and “Dockside Dave”, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Pinellas Park, Florida. He was born March 6, 1927 in Ralpho, Pennsylvania, the son of Jacob and Marie (Kukuchka) Majko, immigrants to the U.S. in 1910.
He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. Ed was a St. Petersburg resident and business man for 40 years. He owned and operated Slater’s Produce in Seminole, and was Maitre’d at Dockside Dave’s Seafood Restaurant in Madeira Beach, where he happily led customers to believe he was “Dockside Dave” the owner. We will miss Ed for his good natured, easy going ways, his love of animals, and his tall tales.
He is survived by his companion of 25 years, Joan Carlton; son, Stephen; daughter, Loretta Hess; Step-son, Daniel Kanich; step-daughter, Diane Kanich; six grandchildren; niece, Jo Anne Mesina, and nephew, Joseph Mesina.
Visitation held 11:00am Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the funeral home, where Full Military Honors will be rendered at 1:00pm. Interment will be in Garden Sanctuary Cemetery in Seminole, Florida.
