Evelyn Marie Thompson

THOMPSON, Evelyn M. 93, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Brookdale Countryside A.L.F. She was born June 29, 1922 in Tiffin, Ohio, the daughter of Urban and Irene (Kurtz) Steinmetz. Evelyn was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse in numerous hospitals, both in the United States and outside the country. After moving to Florida in 1976, she worked at Bay Pines VAMC, Largo Medical Center and Morton Plant Hospital. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater. Evelyn was an avid bowler and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard, and a brother, Urban Steinmetz, Jr. She is survived by a son, Richard C. (Diana) Thompson, II; daughters, Janet M. Motz and Nancy R. (Jeff) Boone; brothers, Kenny and Eugene Steinmetz; sisters, Martha Elchert, Gervase Eubanks, Geraldine Fredritz, and Dorothy Peiffer; and grandchildren, James R. (Tina) Motz, Maranda and Marissa Thompson; extended family, Paul A Walenta, Kathy Magee and beloved dog, Peanut.

Evelyn will be laid to rest privately with her husband, Richard, at Garden Sanctuary Cemetery in Seminole, Florida at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to: Suncoast Hospice Foundation, .5771 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater, FL 33760-9962.
