

Gary Lee Henkel, 80, of Pinellas Park, FL, passed away on January 18, 2026. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 2, 1945. He served in the United States Navy for 6 years. He attended the University of Maryland and the University of South Florida and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He had a long career working at Time Customer Service as a Vice President. After retirement, he started a new career as an American History professor.
He was a loving and dedicated father, husband, son, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed spending time playing tennis, pickleball, golf, riding his bike, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Teri Lyn Henkel, and his brother, David Henkel. He is survived his children and their spouses, Sheri & Craig Green, Damon Henkel & Merissa Rock, and Brody & Rachel Henkel; his grandchildren Hogan Green & his wife Melanie Chacon, Hugh Green, Sara Henkel, and Jeremy Henkel; his nephew Rick Mastin & his wife Ella; his niece Stephanie Valladao, her husband Edward & their son Eli; and sisters-in-law Margaret Henkel and Donna Mastin.
A memorial service will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 9530 Starkey Rd, Seminole, FL 33777, February 19, 2026 at 11:30 am. Reception will follow. Interment will follow the reception at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd, Bay Pines, FL 33744, on February 19, 2026, 2:30pm.
