Born July 8, 1920 to Leonard E. Holmes and Ruth Lockwood Holmes in Bridgeport, Ct.
Leonard Passed away in the company of his family in Pinellas Park, Florida on October 8, 2012.
Leonard graduated from Stratford High School in 1938. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943. Served as an electricians mate and played trombone in Navy bands. He married Irma M.Weeks Holmes in November 1944. He worked for the United Illuminating Company for 46 years before retiring. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, His son, Gene C. Holmes, wife Nancy and grandchildren Gene T. Holmes and his wife Regina; Catherine Cink and her husband Bill; and great-grandchildren Eliazbeth Holmes, Jacob Cink and Grace Cink. He was predeceased by his brother Douglas Holmes and sister, Janet Howes. Leonard was a member of the Stratford United Methodist Church.
