Sandra J Niyork, 73, of Largo, Florida was peacefully called home while surrounded by her family on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Largo Medical Center. Sandy was born in Evansville, Indiana, resided in California, Illinois and Georgia before settling in the Largo/Clearwater area of Florida in 1981. She was preceded in death by her father, David Myers and her daughter, Christy Hedgepeth. She is survived by her mother, Cecelia Myers, her brother, Steve Myers, her husband of 19,697 days (almost 54 years), Harold "Bud" Niyork, her daughter and son in law, Robin and Chris Carmichael, son and daughter in law, Joey and Billie Niyork and daughter, Amanda Niyork, her grandchildren, Courtney (& husband Kade) Carmichael-Ballogg, Shelby Carmichael, David Hedgepeth, Luke Hedgepeth, Brianna Hedgepeth, Chloe Molody and Nathan Niyork, and by her great grandson, Ezra Ballogg.
Sandy was an active member, with her husband Bud, of Gulf Coast Church, formerly Harvest Temple Church in Largo for 38 years where she sang in the choir for many years and built many cherished lifelong friendships.
Sandy was a homemaker, wife, and mother who devoted her life to loving her family. In addition to raising her four children, she took care of several of her grandchildren when they were little and even helped watch her great grandson on occasion. In addition, she and Bud opened their arms and hearts to others when they needed a place to stay, some of which still call them Mom and Dad to this day (Allyson Graham- Griffiths).
The Niyork family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff of Largo Medical Center for their guidance, compassion, and accommodations during the 15 days Sandy was in their care.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 6, 2019, 2:00 PM at Gulf Coast Church, 13301 Walsingham Road, Largo, Florida 33774. Pastor Randy Morris and Pastor Dale Denham officiating.
