

Virginia Nolen Brooks passed away peacefully at age 97 on June 13, 2021 at Freedom Square of Seminole, FL. Born on March 16, 1924, and originally of Inverness, FL, Virginia moved to Jacksonville, FL in 1942 where her future mother-in-law introduced her to her husband of 65 years, Terril James Brooks. Terril and Virginia raised their family in Jacksonville and moved to Freedom Square in 2009. She is survived by her son, Alan; daughter-in-law, Sheri; grandchildren, Alex and his wife Brenda, Christopher and his wife Marion and Katie; great-grandchildren, Mary and James and many nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her father Isaac Russell Nolen; mother, Grace Register Nolen; husband, Terril; son, Robert Nolen Brooks; brother-in-law, Everett Randolph (Randy) Brooks and sisters, Barbara Cline, Dorothy Templeton and Margaret O’Kelley.
Virginia and Terril ran a small business selling photographs of new babies to their parents in two Jacksonville hospitals for 20 years. She loved working with the hospital staff and meeting the new mothers. In the last few years of running this business, they began providing baby photographs to the children of some of their first customers! She was a lifelong Methodist and a member of the Glynlea United Methodist Church in Jacksonville from 1951 to 2009. In addition to being active in church and the Jacksonville Garden Club, she enjoyed volunteering, playing bridge, and being surrounded by flowers, family, and friends.
