
She was involved in many school activities and graduated from Muleshoe High School in 1947.
She met and married John H. Herring the following year. They soon moved to Alaska, settling in Anchorage to raise five children.
After her husband's death in 2004, Jackie moved to Sequim to be near her son Neil and grandchildren.
She made many wonderful friends during the few years she lived there and enjoyed her participation in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, in which she served as president.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, John, and son Kevin. She is survived by her brother, Ted; her half-brothers Bob, Bruce and Don Lawler; daughter Eileen Herring (Alan Sanders) of Birch Bay, Washington; son Neil of Sequim; daughter Leslie Herring (Les Tubman) of Picton, New Zealand, and Willow, Alaska; son Daniel (Candace McKenzie) of Anchorage; grandchildren Jesse, Cianan, Ryan, Adam, Ashley and Lauren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jackie's name to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, 540 East Eighth Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362; or to Olympic Medical Center, 939 Caroline Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362.
A memorial service will be held August 14, 2011, in Sequim
