June 21, 1918-April 5, 2013
Mom passed away at home on April 5, 2013. Her family was with her.
June was born in Aberdeen, WA to Signe and John Nyman. She met and married Alexander Young of Aberdeen in 1942. They moved from Aberdeen to Juneau, AK where all three children were born. From there they moved to Southern California and then to Southeast Asia. They had a great life and traveled extensively. Mom loved meeting new people and trying new things.
Shortly after returning to the U.S. they found a house in Sequim. In 1977 they took early retirement and moved to their “home on the beach.” Mom loved her home, the beach, her friends and most of all her children and grandchildren.
She loved to laugh and have fun. A stranger was just a friend she had not yet met.
Alex passed away unexpectedly in 1983. She married Marvin Shell in 1985. He passed shortly after.
When you think of mom please do not weep. Remember her smile and laugh and know that she is at home with those who went before, watching over us all. She is at peace and without pain. Instead of tears; smile, laugh often, love well, and be kind to each other. That is the greatest tribute you could pay her.
She is survived by three children, Alexander Young (Karen) of Poulsbo, WA; Michael Jon Young (Ngaire) of New Zealand; and Penny Tremlin of Sequim; also six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Life with a reception after will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Sequim on Monday April 22nd at 3:00 PM.
Memorials can be made to St. Luke’s, Peninsula Friends of Animals or the charity of your choice.
