

Betty was born in Columbus County, N.C. on May 10, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Giles Hudson Shockley and Minnie Loulyn Shockley. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Carilee Nipper, Marie Bullard, Ida Mae Gable, Pauline Planter, Rufus Shockley, Charles Shockley, Geraldine Bullard, Amous Shockley and Hudson Shockley. Growing up Betty Loved her family, the game of tennis and a day of shopping. She worked many years with Merita Thrift Stores. In her latter years she loved singing in a quartet with her husband and friends. She continued her love for singing at assisted living facilities as long as she could. Most of all she loved her husband, Billy Hill and was happiest when she was with him and taking care of him.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Hill; step-children, Reverend Warren Hill and wife Deanna of Elizabethtown, NC, Lisa Pippin and husband Frank of Waxhaw, N.C. and Leslie Hill of Tarheel, N.C.; six step-grandchildren and six great step-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday January 26, 2025 at three o'clock in the afternoon at the Hill Family Cemetery located at 752 N.C Highway 20, St. Pauls, N.C. with Reverend Warren Hill and Reverend Wayne Lee officiating.
