Bill Hummer

Bill Hummer (Clyde William Hummer), passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on January 6, 1952, in Charles Town, West Virginia, Bill spent his final years enjoying retirement in Calabash, North Carolina, alongside his beloved wife, Darlene. In retirement, Bill embraced his passion for golf, spending countless hours on the course, enjoying the camaraderie and challenge of the game. He was a member of Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he found fellowship.

Bill is survived by his wife, Darlene; his children, Shawn Hummer of Hagerstown, MD, Jennifer Jones and her husband, Frank Jones of Mount Joy, PA, and Scott Brown of DuPont, WA; and his treasured grandchildren, Leah (9) and Noah (7) Jones. He is also survived by his brother, Brent Hummer and his wife, Karen, of Conway, SC; and his sister, Brenda Jenkins and her husband, Christopher, of Harpers Ferry, WV.

He was predeceased by his parents, Clyde Pitman Hummer and Helen Marie Hummer (Ott).

A graduate of Charles Town High School, Bill pursued a successful career as a Sales Manager in the life insurance industry, where his dedication and leadership were evident to all who worked with him. Beyond his professional achievements, Bill was an accomplished skeet shooter and a proud member of the National Skeet Shooting Association. He earned state championships in West Virginia and Maryland, leaving a lasting legacy in the skeet shooting community through his skill and competitive spirit.

Bill will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering commitment to his family, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life, from time on the golf course to moments spent with loved ones.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at eleven o'clock in the morning

at Calabash Covenant Presbyterian Church, 8820 Old Georgetown Rd SW, Sunset Beach, NC.

Bill’s life was one of purpose, love, and joy. He will be deeply missed but forever held in the hearts of all who knew him.
