Reverend Dewey Campbell Jackson

Born on September 15, 1951, in Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Henry Campbell Jackson and Evelyn Evans Jackson. He graduated from Massey Hill High School in 1969. He married the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Brenda in April of 1971. Prior to becoming a Pastor, he was a longtime member of Carroll Memorial Baptist Church and manager of Rapture Road Quartet.

Reverend Jackson pastored several churches including Providence Baptist Church, Friendship Baptist Church, and Abbottsburg Baptist Church. He was passionate about studying the bible and wrote a book on his studies of the book of Revelation, in hopes of bringing others to Christ. Helping families through marriage and grief counseling brought him great joy. After his retirement, he devoted himself to teaching the word through Sunday School and helping to take care of his mother-in-law. He was a generous, loving, and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Henry Fonnie Jackson, and his stepmother, Wyona Duffer Jackson.

Survivors include his loving wife, Brenda Lassiter Jackson of Supply; children, Amber Jackson Tibbetts of Altamonte Springs, FL, Dewey Campbell Jackson II of Denver, CO, and Christen Jackson Cokes and husband Justin of Wilmington; mother-in-law, Eleanor Lassiter Couch of Supply; four grandchildren, Taylor Tibbetts, Jackson Krishingner, Justin “JJ” Cokes Jr., and Eleanor “Ellie” Cokes; and stepmother Carleen Dees Jackson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 2pm at First Baptist Church of Shallotte with Pastor Bob Weathers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

A short service and burial will be 1pm Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at LaFayette Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, North Carolina, with Pastor Mack Roberts officiating.
