Dwight was born on July 6, 1955 in Wadesboro, North Carolina, to Martin Reese and Margaret H. Dutton. His dedication to his teaching, mentoring and coaching of bright, young minds earned him accolades and admiration of both his employers and students. Most of Dwight’s career was spent teaching in the Chapel Hill, North Carolina school system. In 2014, after retiring from the State of North Carolina School System, he accepted a new job at The Scholars Academy of Horry County, South Carolina and Dwight and Carol made the big move to Sunset Beach, North Carolina, to be near the coast he loved so well. He loved his music, Shag dancing, making new friends and walking hand-in-hand on the beach to enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Carol M. Dutton of the home; father Martin Reese Dutton of Wadesboro, North Carolina; sister, Maresa D. Phillips, of Wadesboro, North Carolina, his children Kristine M. Dutton, Matthew W. Winstead (Christy), Sarah W. Hinson (Zach) and his six beloved grandchildren.
At his request, no public services will be held.
