

Mr. Bowling was born August 11, 1937 in Valdosta, Georgia, son of the late Eddie H. Bowling and Alma Cozart Bowling. He grew up on a family farm in Aberdeen, North Carolina and was a graduate of Campbell College. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Bowling managed the computer information services department for J. P. Stevens in Charlotte then Stevens/WestPoint in Greenville, South Carolina. He retired, and in the same capacity worked a few years for Liberty Life Insurance until fully retiring and moving to Ocean Isle Beach. He served as a Museum of Coastal Carolina Volunteer since 1992. He was an accomplished woodcarver, vegetable gardener, avid fisherman, and maker of the best hushpuppies and Christmas fudge. He was an all around great guy who was loved by many. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Almond.
Survivors include his adoring wife of 59 years, Sharon; loving and devoted daughters, Jill of Ocean Isle Beach and Sandra of Sylva; brother, Lee (Lib) of Mint Hill; brothers-in-law, Donald Bladen and Roger Bladen; and nieces and nephews.
