Frank was born March 30, 1945 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of the late Francis Atencio and Mary Margaret Atencio Bura. He worked for the Carpenter's Union in Philadelphia until retirement. Frank enjoyed his work and liked sharing his story of painting all the bridges there. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and smoking his beloved cigars. His family meant the world to him, especially spending time with his daughter, granddaughters and dogs. He enjoyed cooking and preparing his specialty Chinese Fried Rice. His nickname was Hawaii Five-O and lived up to the name by his storytelling. He and his wife Dorothea raised their family in New Jersey prior to moving to North Carolina in 2010 where they made their home in Carolina Shores.
Survivors include his wife Dorothea Atencio of Carolina Shores, North Carolina; daughter, Jennifer Atencio-Spears and husband Brad of Boonville, Missouri; two granddaughters, Audrey Hontz and husband Philip and Genevieve Spears; and his canine companion Argos.
