James Edison Kelly (U.S. Army Retired), age 69, of Shallotte, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021. James was born December 5, 1951 in Whiteville, NC and was the son of the late Robert David Kelly and Helen Jones Kelly. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kelly Jr. Mr. Kelly proudly served his country with the United States Army. He served three tours in Vietnam where he received numerous medals which included the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm/ Army Commendation Medal and during his last tour he assisted in identifying MIA's.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia D. Kelly; two daughters, Christine Darmofal (Dan) of Aurora, Illinois, Erin Kelly and her children, Scott Kelly and Sierrah Kelly of Topeka, Kansas; a brother, Jerry Kelly (Linda) of Riegelwood, NC.
A private family service will be held.
