
Mr. Farris was born March 5, 1946, in Conway, South Carolina, son of the late John Farris, Sr. and Margaret Stikeleather Farris. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. John owned and operated FarrisWheels of Fort Mill, South Carolina. Mr. Farris was a member of Living Savior Lutheran Church of Charlotte. He was a longtime member of the Oasis Shrine Temple of Charlotte where he served on the Clown Unit for 45 years and also served two years as the unit Captain and was also a member of South Brunswick Islands Shrine Club of Shallotte. He was a member of Royal Order of Jesters, Charlotte Court 109. Mr. Farris was also a member of Shallotte Lodge #727 A.F. & A.M. and Matthews Lodge #641. His hobbies include clowning, traveling, playing music, and all cars.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Polly Farris of the home; daughter, Julie Farris of the home; and a sister Fern Brinkley of Hickory, North Carolina; nieces, April Tucker and husband Scott of Lynchburg, Virginia, Brigett Olender and family of Atlanta, Georgia; nephew, Don Abernathy and Family of Hickory, North Carolina.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, January 23, 2026 at three o’clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 4690 East Coast Lane, Shallotte, North Carolina with Masonic Rites accorded by Shallotte Lodge #727.
An additional Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday January 31, 2026 at three o’clock in the afternoon at Living Savior Lutheran Church, 6817 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226.
