

He was born in Sedalia, MO on May 3, 1945 the son of the late John Farris and Hattie Moon Farris and was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Stephens and two brothers.
Mr. Stephens retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service to his country. He also retired from DuPont in Southport, NC. John loved life loved working in his yard and his garden and most of all telling jokes and listening to good stories. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda M. Stephens of the home; his children, Roy Stephens and wife, Rae of Ash, Michael Stephens of Shallotte, Jodie Stephens also of the home; step-children, Joy McMillan also of Shallotte, Tanya Rich and husband, Shawn of Kings Mountain, NC and Michelle Westenbroek also of Shallotte.; two sisters, Betty Pfeiffer and husband, Fred and Patricia Hazlitt both of Sedalia, MO; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and host of many friends.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a celebration of John’s life at 2:00 in the afternoon on Tuesday May 24, 2016 at White Funeral and Cremation Service Chapel, 3660 Express Drive Shallotte with military honors. A Gathering of family and friends will be on hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
