Elbert was born January 24, 1943 in Southport, North Carolina, son of the late Lawrence Hanes Clemmons and Ruby Lane Holden Clemmons. He worked on a dredge boat for 40 years with Cottrell Engineering. Elbert enjoyed going in the river fishing, gardening and riding his golf cart. He also enjoyed working on tractors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Nancy Smith, Nadine Clemmons, and Betty Clemmons.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Brenda Clemmons of the home; sister, Carolyn Mallard of Burgaw; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, many friends and extended family.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022 at eleven o'clock in the morning at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, North Carolina.
