

Ralph D. Carpenter, 81, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many from White Oak, Virginia, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Little River, South Carolina. Ralph was raised by loving parents, Violet and Roy Carpenter.
Ralph had a remarkable life. He served his country in the Army National Guard for six years, was a dedicated volunteer Fireman, an auto mechanic, and retired from Firestone after years of unwavering service. Ralph was known for his warm smile and friendly nature. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether it was a stranger or someone who was less fortunate. Ralph worked hard and always supported his family with unwavering love and care. Ralph was an avid fisherman and hunter. Ralph was a member of Community Baptist Church where he served the lord faithfully.
Ralph is survived by his sons, David Carpenter (Karen) and Scott Carpenter (Glenda); grandchildren Daniel Reeve, Austin Carpenter, Jennifer Bourne (Matt), and Lisa Bromley (David); great-grandchildren Hunter, Sarah, Emily, Savannah, Mollie, and Landon; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife of 56 years, JoAnn. Sadly, Ralph was preceded in death by his dear sister, Lorraine Shepherd.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 30, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Mr. Charles “Bootsie” Bullock officiating.
The pallbearers will be Roger Shepard, Daniel Reeve, Charlie Vernon, Ronnie Payne, Matt Bourne, Hunter Atchison, and honorary pallbearer Tony Shepard.
