Richard Hallman

Mr. Hallman was born January 26, 1936 in Neiffer, Pennsylvania, son of the late W. Leroy Hallman and Elizabeth Kulp Hallman. He owned and operated Hallman Insurance Agency for many years in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. After retirement, he and his late wife Arlene moved to Shallotte where they spent many years in the ministry visiting and singing at local nursing homes. He was a member of Gospel Center Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church, he also attended Belair Baptist Church. Mr. Hallman served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Lay Minister. His loved taking his dog, Penny for walks and building puzzles. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Arlene, a son, Paul Byron Schatz, sons in-law, Ralph E. Widner, Sr. and Terry Varnam, four siblings, Jim Hallman, Stan Hallman, Mary Fries, and brother-in-law Norm Harner.

He is survived by his children, Paulette Varnam, Cynthia Widner, Sherrie Varner and husband Dale, Craig Hallman and wife Jennifer, Glenn Hallman and wife Gina and Dwight Hallman and wife Jill; 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; brothers, John Hallman and wife Sally Lou, Leroy Hallman and wife Marsha, and Ron Hallman and wife Linda; sisters, Esther Harner and Ruth Anne Clemens and husband Larry; sisters-in-law, Mary Beth Hallman and Sylvia Hallman; brother-in-law, Russell Fries; a very dear friend, Marshall Tyner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be Monday March 18, 2024 at eleven o’clock in the morning at the Lou White Memorial Chapel of White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Dr. Shallotte. Burial will follow in the Gospel Center Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Hallman, Allen Decowsky, Chris Widner, Zachary Hallman, Daniel Almond, and Jacob Varner.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Shallotte, NC or Belair Baptist Church in Grovetown, GA.
