Richard Paul Thompson

Paul was born August 23, 1939, son of the late B. O. Thompson and Jeannette Lester Thompson. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Paul worked as a criminal investigator for many years with the U.S. Treasury until retirement. Paul and his wife Susann joined Lockwood Folly Country Club in 1997 after moving to North Carolina. They enjoyed a love of golf and shared endless hours playing the course. When asked about his game, Paul would say some days the game is good and others not so good, but every day playing golf is a great day. He was usually the first one there in the morning and would share a friendly conversation with the bag drop guys before he went out to play. Paul enjoyed sharing the course with the Maintenance crew. They looked forward to his visits. He could play 18 holes in record time.

Survivors include his beloved wife Susann Thompson of Supply; children, Paula Carter and Christy Thompson, both of West Virginia; sisters, Pat Murphy of Louisiana, and Liz Wood and husband Mervyn of New York; one grandson, Ben Queen and wife Meredith; and one great grandson, Arthur Queen.

The reception for friends and family will be Friday, July 11, 2025 from two o’clock until four o’clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte, North Carolina.
